Ceramic sanitaryware needs a kiln, and a kiln cannot be improvised — ask for photos and firing capacity. Tap makers need a foundry or a casting supplier they are willing to name.
What certification is needed to import bathroom & sanitary into the EU or US?
The EU uses EN 997 for WC pans and EN 200 for taps, plus drinking-water contact approval (4MS, KTW-BWGL). The US requires NSF/ANSI 61 and 372 for lead content, cUPC listing for plumbing, and WaterSense where flow rate is claimed.
What order minimums and tooling costs should I expect?
Ceramic runs from 200–500 pieces per model; taps from 500. A new ceramic body mould takes 30–60 days, which usually matters more than its price.
What goes wrong most often in this category?
Glaze pinholes and warping appear after firing, and brass can leach lead. Lead-free brass is not the default in China — if you need it, it must be written into the specification and verified by test report.
