About Sourcingwiki
Sourcingwiki is a free directory of Chinese manufacturers, maintained by an export agency based in Shanghai. We list every factory we know of — not just the ones who pay. Nobody buys their way to the top.
Why this exists
Finding a real manufacturer in China is harder than it should be. The major platforms rank suppliers by advertising spend, not by relevance. Trading companies routinely present themselves as factories. A buyer searching online has no reliable way to tell who actually makes the product and who is a middleman.
We built this directory because we already had the data — industry catalogues, public registries, company websites — and because giving it away for free is the best way to reach the people who need our services.
How we earn
The directory is free. We earn from three services:
- Supplier sourcing — we find and contact factories on your behalf. $100 refundable deposit, credited toward the agent commission.
- Registry audit — a documented check against Chinese government registries: legal status, paid-in capital, court cases, regulatory penalties.
- Export agent — end-to-end sourcing and export handling, from factory selection to shipment.
This model means the directory stays free, comprehensive, and uncompromised by paid placement. The worse we curate the directory, the less useful it is as a source of clients — so our incentives and yours are aligned.
Shanghai
We are physically present in Shanghai. This matters because supplier sourcing is not a remote job — it requires factory visits, face-to-face negotiations in Chinese, quality inspections before shipment, and someone in the same time zone as the factories. An agency that cannot drive to the factory is offering translation, not representation.
Data and honesty
Our directory is compiled from public sources — it is not independently checked against registries. We say this openly because honest limitations are more useful than false assurances. Read more on our data methodology page.
We do not publish personal contact details of individuals. We do not use the word “verified” to describe our listings. We do not sell placement in search results.
